o State Championships December 2-3 or December 9-10 depending on NET’s Fall filming schedule
• There will be a coaching class conducted this season, thanks to the generosity of The Baer Foundation (dates and times are tentative);
o Kearney will be Saturday, August 26th from 9am-5pm at Big Apple Fun Center.
o Lincoln will be Sunday, August 27th from 9am-5pm at Sun Valley Lanes.
• In order to help facilitate athletes that participate in other sports/activities, Sunday competition WILL BE ALLOWED this season.
As a reminder, this change in season is the ONLY option to the NHSBF, unless ALL PARTICIPANTS are willing to pay $200/player to continue to bowl in the winter season, as bowling centers can no longer afford to turn away paying customers during the busy winter open play season for FREE high school bowling. A survey was conducted to determine if students would be willing to pay to participate (just like all the other club sports) and a majority said no, which is why this decision was made to move to the fall season, and leave the financial structure of the organization the same.
For those of you upset by this change, please contact your local school administration and demand from them that they make traditional high school bowling a recognized NSAA sport, as this is the only way it will move back to the winter season.
Athletes, don’t forget to ask your local high school about your high school Unified bowling program, which will run concurrently with the NHSBF, starting in mid-October.
Good luck this season and we’ll see you at the state championships in December!
John Losito, Commissioner
Nebraska High School Bowling Federation
